Brief about MARC bioscience research laboratories
Our research hub is home to state-of-the-art equipment and the latest omic technologies, providing integrated research services to researchers, The hub includes:
- Genomics unit: MARC’s genomic unit provides state-of-the-art equipment and well-trained technicians ready to support researchers in a wide range of services from nucleic acid extraction, PCR services, and Next Generation Sequencing (NGS).
- Microbiology, immunology, and cell culture unit: that was established based on the recent advances in multidrug resistance, the need of harnessing useful bacteria, and the demand for novel immunotherapeutic agents in the treatment of cancer.
- Biorepository unit: Support clinical research through the management of biological samples (collecting, processing, storage, and release) using high-quality tools. This enables researchers to conduct large-scale studies relying on consented human-based biomaterials which demonstrate hidden cellular and molecular data.
- Bioinformatics unit: This unit was established responding to the growing demand for handling and analysis of data obtained from next-generation sequencing (NGS), in addition to tools and workflow development.
MARC Biobank overview
MARC biobank is an independent pharmaceutical/project-based biobank in Egypt which will support clinical research through the management of biological samples (collecting, processing, storage, and release) using high-quality tools not focused on one disease this enables researchers to conduct large-scale studies relying on consented human-based biomaterials which demonstrate hidden cellular and molecular data. We also started with educational sector of biobanking field by launching a hands-on workshops supporting the knowledge of fresh graduates of even undergraduates which will return positively on biobanking field.
Vision:
To build an independent pharmaceutical/project-based biobank in Egypt which will support clinical research through the management of biological samples using high-quality tools not focused on one disease this enables researchers to conduct large-scale studies relying on consented human-based biomaterials which demonstrate hidden cellular and molecular data.
